Empowering Girl-Child Sensitisation and Free Sanitary Pads Outreach Program

The girl-child deserves to grow up confident, informed, and empowered—yet many girls struggle in silence because of shame, lack of information, and limited access to sanitary products. To respond to this need, we carried out a girl-child sensitisation program focused on hygiene, self-worth, and education, and also provided sanitary pads to support their health, dignity, and continuous school attendance. This was more than just a program; it was an investment in the future of girls, their education, and their confidence. During the sensitisation sessions, we created a safe, open, and respectful space where girls could: We emphasized that menstruation is normal and healthy, not something to hide in fear or confusion. We taught them: These lessons were delivered in simple, practical language so that every girl—regardless of background—could understand and apply them. Building Self-Worth and Confidence Beyond physical hygiene, we also focused on the emotional and psychological well-being of the girls. Many of them struggle with low self-esteem, body shaming, and pressure from society. During the sessions, we reminded them that: We spoke about self-worth, respect, and boundaries, teaching them to value themselves, make good choices, and stay focused on their education and future. Providing Sanitary Pads: Protecting Dignity and Education For many girls, one of the biggest challenges during their menstrual cycle is simply not having access to sanitary pads. This often leads to: To tackle this, we provided sanitary pads to the girls as part of the program. This simple act protects: Something as small as a sanitary pad can make the difference between a girl sitting confidently in class or staying at home in silence. When girls regularly miss school because of their periods, they are more likely to: By combining education, encouragement, and practical support, we are helping to remove one more barrier that keeps girls away from school. Powerful Medical and Food Outreach for Bomu Community Families

Date: 24th June 2023Location: Bomu, Bakan LGA, Ogoni, Rivers State On 24th June 2023, we had the privilege of visiting Bomu Community in Bakan LGA, Ogoni, Rivers State for a combined medical and food palliative outreach. The outreach was designed to respond to two pressing needs in the community: access to basic health care and relief from food insecurity among vulnerable families. Many households in Bomu face daily economic and health challenges, and this outreach was our way of standing with them in compassion, love, and practical support. Bringing Basic Medical Care Closer to the People Health is a fundamental need, yet many people in rural and underserved communities do not have easy access to medical attention. During the outreach, we offered basic medical checks and health support to community members, including: Trained health personnel were on ground to attend to adults and children, listen to their health concerns, and offer professional advice. Some individuals who had been living with symptoms for a long time finally had the opportunity to speak with a medical professional and get clarity on their conditions. Beyond checking vitals, we emphasized the importance of early detection, hygiene, healthy lifestyle choices, and regular monitoring—especially for conditions like hypertension and other silent illnesses that often go unnoticed. Food Palliatives for Families in Need Alongside medical support, we also provided food palliatives to families experiencing economic hardship. The goal was to ease the burden of feeding, even if for a short period, and to remind them that they are not alone. The food relief packages contained essential items that could support households for some time. As families received their packages, there was visible joy, relief, and gratitude. For some, it meant fewer worries about the next meal; for others, it was an unexpected blessing at a difficult time. This practical gesture of love reinforced our belief that meeting physical needs opens doors to hope and encouragement. Touching Lives Through Presence and Care Beyond the items given and services rendered, one of the most powerful aspects of the outreach was our presence in the community. We listened to their stories, interacted with children, spoke with parents, and connected with community leaders. In many conversations, people shared how challenging the times have been, but also how much strength they find in community support. Being there physically to serve, encourage, and stand with them sent a clear message: “You matter. Your health, your well-being, and your future are important.” Partnering for Community Well-being We are grateful for everyone who contributed in one way or another to make the Bomu Community Medical & Food Palliative Outreach a reality—medical personnel, volunteers, organizers, donors, and community leaders. This outreach is part of a larger commitment to support vulnerable communities with health, food, and emotional encouragement, and to continue building bridges of hope where it is needed most. As we look ahead, we remain committed to extending this kind of support to more communities, knowing that every act of kindness—no matter how small—has the power to change liv

Our goal was clear: to encourage them to stay focused on their studies and to equip them with some of the basic tools they need to succeed. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was bright and full of energy. The children welcomed us with excitement, curiosity, and warm smiles. Their eagerness to learn and engage reminded us why investing in education—especially at the foundational level—is so important. Supporting Learning Through Educational Materials As part of the outreach, we provided educational materials to the pupils. These included items that could help make learning easier, more engaging, and more effective. For many of these children, such materials are not always readily available, and having them can make a real difference in how they participate in class. Partnering with the School for a Better Future Our visit also gave us the opportunity to connect with the teachers and management of Community Primary School 2. We recognize the important role they play every day—teaching, guiding, and shaping the minds of these young learners, often with limited resources. By supporting the pupils, we were also indirectly supporting the efforts of the school, reaffirming that they are not alone in the mission to educate and empower children in the community. Building a Culture of Educational Support This outreach is part of a bigger vision: to build a culture where education is valued, supported, and prioritized. Added Value to Senior Citizens in Our Community

Date: 5th February 2023 Recognizing the sacrifices, wisdom and lifelong contributions of the elderly in our community, we organized a special outreach dedicated to senior citizens. For many of them, age has come with reduced mobility, loneliness, and sometimes a sense of being forgotten. Our goal was simple yet meaningful: to remind them that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved From the beginning of the outreach, there was a warm and peaceful atmosphere. As we visited and gathered with the seniors, we were welcomed with smiles, stories, and heartfelt gratitude. Many were eager to share memories from their younger days—stories of hard work, raising families, building communities, and overcoming challenges. Listening to them was both humbling and inspiring. Gifts That Spoke of Love To show our appreciation in a tangible way, we shared gifts and welfare packages tailored to their needs. These included basic items to support their daily living and bring them comfort. While the packages themselves were important, what truly mattered was the message behind them: “You are not forgotten. We care about you.” The joy in their faces as they received these items spoke volumes. For some, it was a relief; for others, a pleasant surprise that someone remembered them and chose to honour them. The Gift of Time and Presence Beyond material gifts, one of the most meaningful parts of the outreach was quality time. We sat with them, listened to their stories, shared laughter, and offered words of encouragement. Many seniors long for companionship more than anything else. Taking out time just to be present with them made a real difference. Through simple conversations, handshakes, hugs, and prayers, we reassured them that their lives still matter greatly—that their experiences, wisdom, and presence are a blessing to the community. Honouring a Lifetime of Impact Our senior citizens represent decades of hard work, sacrifice, and service. They are parents, grandparents, mentors, and pioneers who helped shape the society we enjoy today. This outreach was our way of saying “thank you” in a practical and heartfelt manner. We believe that honouring the elderly is not a one-time event but an ongoing responsibility. As a community, we must continue to look out for them—checking in, offering support, and creating spaces where they feel appreciated and included. A Call to Care for Our Elderly This outreach reminded us that kindness to the elderly is a powerful expression of love and respect. We encourage individuals, families, and organizations to look around and identify senior citizens who may need support, companionship, or a simple reminder that they are valued. As we concluded the program, we left with a deeper sense of gratitude for the lives of these senior citizens and a renewed commitment to keep adding value to them in every way we can.

Outstanding Support to Saviour Star Orphanage, Rumukwurusi

On 10th January 2023, we had the privilege of visiting Saviour Star Orphanage in Rumukwurusi, Rivers State. It was more than just an outreach; it was a reminder of why love, kindness, and community support matter so deeply—especially for children who do not have parental care. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the caregivers and the children. Their smiles, shyness, and curious glances said a lot even before any words were spoken. Many of these children have faced challenges no child should ever have to experience, yet they radiated a strength and joy that touched every one of us. Our mission was simple but intentional: to provide essential support and to show love, care, and encouragement. Outstanding Support: Sharing Essentials, Sharing Hope We came with different essential items aimed at making daily life a little easier for the children and the home. These included things like foodstuffs, toiletries, and other basic supplies that are constantly needed in an orphanage setting. While these items may seem ordinary, in the hands of the children and caregivers, they become tools of comfort, dignity, and relief. Seeing the appreciation on the faces of the staff reminded us that orphanages often depend heavily on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and communities. Every contribution—no matter the size—helps to keep the doors open, the lights on, and the children cared for. Presence and Connection (STAR) Beyond the material support, we were very intentional about spending time with the children. We interacted, played, talked, listened, laughed, and simply shared moments together. For many of them, this kind of attention and encouragement is just as valuable as any gift. We encouraged them to believe in themselves, to dream big, and to hold onto hope no matter what life has thrown at them. We reminded them that they are seen, valued, and loved. These are words every child deserves to hear. Appreciating the Caregivers (star) The visit was also an opportunity to appreciate the incredible work being done by the caregivers and management of Saviour Star Orphanage. Day after day, they step in as family—nurturing, teaching, comforting, and guiding these children. Their commitment is a powerful example of service and sacrifice. Supporting the orphanage is also a way of supporting these caregivers, strengthening their capacity to continue the amazing work they do. A Call to KeepOur Work Giving (star) Our time at Saviour Star Orphanage in Rumukwurusi was a reminder that we all have a role to play in caring for vulnerable children around us.
